How was this project a success?
Everyone walked away feeling good about this collaboration. Our client was impressed by both the quality of our filmmaking, and the inclusivity and thoughtfulness of our process. Our production team felt valued and creatively fulfilled. And we were able to create a body of work that has had a real impact in advancing the universal right to abortion, by having the insights from the video distribution incorporated into the national advocacy platform of the Women’s March and other organizations on the frontline of the movement for gender equality.
The main goal of this project was to learn which core messages would motivate target audiences to take action for abortion rights. The videos performed exceptionally well during testing, especially with key demographics of women, people under 35, and people of color. None of the videos performed badly, and national groups such as Women's March have now adopted the messaging we developed into their abortion-related campaigns.
Our client needed a team that aligned with their values and priorities and understood the importance of centering those most impacted by gender discrimination (e.g. Black and brown women, non-binary and trans folks, and fat femmes). Since these values and priorities are deeply ingrained in our mission and day-to-day operations, the result was a seamless collaboration that easily met our client’s needs.
